What to Expect

Everybody has their “thing.” It’s a simple, casual-sounding word, but there is nothing casual about having a thing. I’m talking about an obsessive interest that’s taken over your life in an “Oh, so this is your entire personality now?” kind of way. For me, that’s of course, women’s basketball. My family, friends, and even acquaintances know that connecting with me is easy. All you have to do is mutter those three letters: WBB. Suddenly, I’m intrigued.

I love being the friend that gets texts like:

“Wait, Arike Ogunbowale and Geno Auriemma had beef?”

“Did you see Angel Reese walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?”

“Is it normal for Tennessee to attempt 100 3-pointers in a game?”

I love being the women’s basketball friend. And I want to be that for you (yes, you!), dear reader. That’s my vision for Inbox-and-One. I want it to feel like talking ball with a good friend. Because I truly love this sport. I love watching it unfold on and off the court. I love the personalities, the friendships, and the drama. I love its history. And I love connecting with people who also love this beautiful sport.

So, from one WBB lover to another, thanks for being here, thanks for subscribing, and thanks for welcoming me into your inbox twice a week. It’s an honor to be your “women’s basketball friend.”

Analysis With a Twist

Ultimately this is a basketball newsletter, so Xs, Os, Ws and Ls will be discussed, but in a meaningful way. I’ll tell you what’s happening on the court, but also why it’s happening, who's making it happen and what it means. Every analysis piece will have fun and fascinating insights to what makes these players human.

History

Women’s basketball has a rich and often undercovered history. When Caitlin Clark was chasing the college basketball scoring record, the world was finally introduced to Lynette Woodard, a former Kansas star who held the true scoring record, despite not being formally recognized. There’s a lot of Lynette Woodards out there. The underappreciated, undercovered players that made this incredible game possible. I’m going to tell their stories

Qs and As

I want to talk with everyone in the women’s basketball space. That means players and coaches, but also agents, scouts, stylists, makeup artists, merch designers and even fans. Women’s basketball extends so far beyond the painted lines and those voices matter, too.

Mailbags

Being your “women’s basketball friend,” means I’m here to answer any questions you might have about the sport.

Reporter’s Notebook Dumps

Every journalist has notebooks, or a notes app, full of anecdotes, details, quotes and observations that don’t fit into stories. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthwhile or interesting. I will bring those details to my readers, allowing them an inside look into the game and the chaotic mind of a journalist.

Midmajor Stories

A player or team doesn’t have to be a big name or massive brand in order to get coverage. Good stories are good stories, and I intend to tell them, no matter where they come from.

Whatever Else You Might Want

Yes, you! I want my readers to get the absolute best and most interesting content. So if you have a suggestion, send it my way. My inbox is always open to a fellow WBB fan.
